SWITCHhub, the one-stop store for digital solutions, was unfortunately discontinued on 31 August 2022, which we very much regret.
We have already adapted services such as Zoom and Qualtrics, so that an account is automatically created when you log in with your SWITCH edu-ID, should an account not yet exist for these services. In addition, we will list here all web-based services that members of the University of Lucerne can use.
Zoom
Zoom is a video telephony software program developed by Zoom Video Communications.
More Information
- Zoom is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, and Linux.
- A user with a basic free license can host meetings up to 100 participants for 40 minutes.
- A user with a full paid license can host meetings up to 100 participants for unlimited time.
- Login to Zoom with the SWITCH edu-ID automatically creates a Zoom account if one does not already exist.
Service Terms of use
Zoom may only be used for the purposes of the University of Lucerne. It is not permitted to use Zoom for commercial purposes.

Qualtrics offers a cloud-based subscription software platform for experience management.

Login to Qualtrics with the SWITCH edu-ID automatically creates a Qualtrics account if one does not already exist.
Service Terms of Use
All students, lecturers and staff are permitted to use Qualtrics for teaching, research and other university-related surveys.
It is not permitted to use Qualtrics for commercial purposes.

Open Source Audience Interaction
More Information
KlickerUZH is a web-based interaction tool, also called instant classroom response system, which fosters the interaction between speakers and their audience in various ways. During a KlickerUZH session (e.g., a lecture), a speaker may pose questions to be answered by participants on their mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets or laptops). If so desired by the speaker, the audience can also ask questions, and interact with questions of other students, in the KlickerUZH Q&A channel. The lecturer can then respond to these questions from within the tool or orally during the lecture
Question types supported by KlickerUZH:
- Single Choice (SC): Only one of the given answers may be selected.
- Multiple Choice (MC): Multiple of the given answers may be selected.
- Free Text (FT): The input is unrestricted (text answers).
- Number Range (NR): A number within a given range may be chosen (or any number, if no range is provided).
Additional features and result presentation options:
- Pictures may be added to the question.
- Questions are part of a question pool and may be tagged to remain organized.
- Sessions can be prepared in advance and questions can be put into questions blocks.
- Presentation options include pie chart, bar chart, histogram, word cloud, and table.
KlickerUZH is an open source project, continuously improved and new features added.

The Swiss academic cloud storage service to store, synchronise, share and edit files, quickly and reliably.

SWITCHdrive offers the Swiss academic community a secure alternative to commercial cloud storage services. Files can be stored, synchronised, shared and worked on in collaboration with others – quickly and reliably.
SWITCHdrive is easy to use with a browser, desktop client or mobile app. The academic cloud storage services differs from the commercial ones in one important respect: it runs entirely in the SWITCH cloud. It is connected to the academic network, and access is protected by AAI. All the IT resources and users' files are stored in SWITCH's data centres. This is the best way to meet university members' security needs.

- Launch SWITCHfilesender in your browser.
- Log in (using your AAI or voucher login).
- Upload your file to the protected SWITCH cloud.
- Enter the recipient's e-mail address.
- Send the file.
- The recipient then gets an e-mail containing the download link.
- Secure, web-based service for sending large files
- Maximum number of files per upload: 1 (tip: create a ZIP archive)
- Maximum file size per upload: 50 GB
- Maximum number of e-mail recipients: 100 e-mail addresses
- Maximum storage period for files: 20 days

MAXQDA is a software for qualitative and mixed methods of data analysis. It is frequently used in academic research, market and social research and other areas in which qualitative data is analyzed.
More Information
To use MAXQDA with a private device, an active connection with VPN to the University of Lucerne with the internal MAXQDA license server is required.

Important: Only macOS requires the internal license server (nlm01.unilu.ch) to be set up manually after installation.
